….I asked Salim to teach the Dharma here in Indonesia and he has been doing that for many years. He did this very well…..There were thirty or forty young sincere devoted intelligent students. Here the students are intelligent and have a good heart, so I was very happy… Salim taught so many different texts…The students not only learn the words of Buddhadharma but also put it into practice. This is what Salim Lee’s main emphasis is, not just to know the text whereby the mind becomes very stubborn like a stone under the ocean for thousands of years yet water does not enter inside, or like a hot desert in which nothing grows, the mind without loving kindness, without compassion, without devotion, like a hot desert. So he emphasizes to put this into practice so I am very happy.

Pusat-pusat Dharma (centers) mempunyai cara-cara yang berbeda dalam melayani Rinpoche. Rinpoche sangat senang dengan cara di Indonesia karena mereka banyak mempraktikkannya. Sesungguhnya dengan praktik meraka, itu yang membuat Rinpoche berumur panjang.

Saya ingat Om Salim selalu mengingatkan kita bahwa dalam mengurus para Sangha dan Rinpoche jangan dibedakan. Kita harus hati-hati dengan pikiran kita. Saya berbincang-bincang dengan anggota Sangha tentang bagaimana Om Salim mengajarkan kita bahwa hidup spiritual dan hidup sehari-hari jangan dibedakan, dan juga Om mengajarkan dan memberikan contoh dalam mempraktikkan Sepuluh Kushalakarma dalam hidup sehari-hari, ‘Jangan menggunakan tilpon kantor untuk bergosip atau bicara hal-hal pribadi atau menggunakan fasilitas kantor untuk kebutuhan pribadi, termasuk untuk Dharma karena itu adalah mencuri. Untuk Dharma harus “pure.” Ketika berbincang-bincang mengenai ini, saya melihat mata salah satu anggota Sangha berkaca-kaca, hampir mengeluarkan air mata, dan beliau berkata, “Saya juga harus berhati-hati.”
